Brute
Pigment print in four layers, framed.
(2013)
Brute is a series of pictures made during workshops at the Orange Rouge. These pictures represent African masks painted by autistic children.
Technically inspired by the series of images taken by Walker Evans for MOMA, Brute topic is the reception of African art in the West. How a de-ritualized art become decorative. By painting over these objects, children gives them back a kind of oddity.
